Gaylord Palms Photos

I have posted photos from the Gaylord Palms here in Orlando. The resort is quite amazing, which features three indoor atrium's. With streams, ponds, and trees throughout the whole building, it makes it seem like you are outside, while you are actually inside! Here are the photos:

Expedition Everest Walk Down

Today I went to Animal Kingdom with some freinds, which the park turned out a little bit more crowded than expected. At first Expedition Everest had an hour wait, but then by around 4 (the park closes at 5) it was down to only 30 minutes. It was just me and a first-time rider, so we decided to wait for front seat. The 30 minute wait went by quick, we discussed the ride, looking at all the envirnmental objects, and talked about classes.

So get on the ride and we are both enjoying it, afterall Everest isn't my favorite coaster, but it is starting to grow on me. The breaking of the track really freaks out my friend, but it is a cool feature and she starts to enjoy going backwards on the coaster. We then entered the next scene where we would go forward again. This is where the Yeti breaks up the track, however I noticed we may be delayed a little. As the Yeti was nearing the end of his segment, the turntable had yet to move to the portion of track that would led us straight. After the Yeti was done doing his thing, I figured we had a short break while there was a problem in the station and we just couldn't advance. However, it turned out to be a more serious problem. Maybe it had something to do with it being built by Vekoma...

After a couple of minutes go by a Cast Member announces to remain seated until future instructions are givin to us when someone arrives. Immediately we determine they are sending people up to walk us down. After a couple more minutes, three Cast Members (along with others who looking like maintenance and a manager) arrive to escort us down. They start to unlock the lapbars from the back of the train forward and exit the riders. They then kept the riders on the stairs until everyone was out of the train, which didn't take very long, and then started to escort us down. Since we were in the front seat, we were the first guests in the group to walk down.

The interior structure was incredible. The actual coaster and mountain are two different structures, which make for an interesting internal system of supports and beams. There were only two portions in which we could see inside of the mountain, as the staircase itself was enclosed. Walking to the stairs at the top was just a short walk. All the internal lighting was on and everything was clearly labeled and marked. We then had to walk down the 16 flights of stairs to the bottom of Expedition Everest. Once we arrived, I could see all the different internal tunnels of the stucture. I could easily view where different scenes where and the location of the tunnels. We then exited the structure through two doors and outside along the final break run into the exit station. Upon us leaving everyone was handed a Fastpass to ride again, the only downside is they expire in two weeks.

Overall the evac of the ride was very well ran and went incredibly smooth. All the Cast Members knew what to do and were all very helpful. When they first entered our area they shouted hello and asked how everyone is doing. No one ever said to everyone that we will be walking down, but they immediately started to unload the train once everyone arrived. It gives me more confidence in the Disney staff and their training in the event of a real emergency ever happens, whether that be on a ride or in a park itself. We were never left sitting for long without knowing what was happening.

Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World is turning out to be a nice park, and Expedition Everest is another fantastic Disney attraction.
