Small Event
Major
events in the world change the way countries do business with each other. World Wars devastate societies throughout the
world and tragedies can have lasting impacts on the way people feel about a
certain subject. However, small events
also affect little things in ones life.
One small event that has impacted my life is the gift of the computer.
Last
Christmas, my family was in need of a new computer, as our original one was breaking
down often and slowing down. This caused
us to start a search for a new computer, something with a lot of memory and
speed. My dad and I agreed on looking at
the Dell product-line, as they offered the most bang for the buck. We finally decided on the Dell 4600C
computer, which at the time was one of the newest computers Dell offered as it
had something that most computers did not have, a small size. The tower of this computer was much smaller
than the standard computer, it is about half as tall, long, and wide. This new computer changed the way I use
computers.
With
the introduction of this new computer as a Christmas present to my family, I
knew I had to take care of this computer and prevent the same fate of the old
computer from happening to the 4600C.
After receiving the new computer, I read, researched, and explored all
the different tools of how to take care of a computer. I started out with downloading two different
programs; Ad-ware SE and Spybot-Search & Destroy. Both programs scan the computer for spyware,
adware, malware, and other files that can harm the computer. Along with McAfee VirusScan, I keep the
computer running at its top. I later
discovered a program called Bazooka Spyware Scanner, which scans the registry
of the computer to make sure it is clean and the computer is operating
smoothly.
If
my dad would never have purchased the Dell 4600C, I do not believe I would have
as much computer knowledge as I do today.
Whether I am helping friends or family, I always am willing to fix their
computer for free. I enjoy working on
computers and hopefully, one day I will do that as a career.
